About the event

Back by popular demand, this deeply restful day retreat is designed to help you sink into those slow & reflective moments that mid-winter can bring.

Our day will begin with two hours of super-chilled & nourishing restorative yoga and yoga nidra (yogic sleep). Think soft blankets and creative lying down where you're guided towards that restful place just before you fall asleep. There's no 'doing' involved at all in this yoga practice, simply sinking into 'being'. Moments of reflection will be woven into the practice, giving you the opportunity to explore the theme rest. This practice will be suitable for people with some or no experience of yoga and those with limited mobility, options and variations will be given throughout.

Our afternoon will continue with three glorious hours of Hilltop bathing as the sun sets. With wood-fired red cedar hot tubs, barrel saunas, plunge pools & views for days over the Cambridgeshire countryside – you’ll be able to choose how you want to explore your downtime. There will also be time to enjoy a brisk barefoot sensory walk through the meadow. These three hours will give you an opportunity to reflect on & digest our practice, and to get to know our yoga community. There are lots of cosy seats and quiet places for you to explore as well if you’re after some alone time.

We’ll then end our day enjoying fresh & delicious fireside pizza (fireside dependent on weather), sharing salads and cakes as we bask in the night air. Wine isn't included in the price of this day retreat but is available to purchase from the bistro.

We’ll end with a short closing circle to harness all of the energy and intentions that we’ve set for the rest of Winter. Again ideally this will be fireside, but it is weather dependent.

Who this is for

This day retreat is for people who are looking for a break from life, an opportunity to slow down & maybe a chance to explore and embrace new ways of resting. I’m afraid this day isn’t suitable for wheelchair users. Whilst the practice is suitable for those with limited mobility, there is a short grass hill walk up to the bathing & bistro. To enter the hot tubs you'll need to climb up a few steps. If you’re pregnant, please speak to your GP in advance of booking and also drop me a message.

What to bring

For yoga you’ll need to bring a yoga mat, cushion, blankets, water bottle, notebook & pen. Wear anything you feel comfortable lying down in (this can genuinely include pjs).

For the bathing you’ll need clean swimwear, sliders/flip-flops, towel, bathrobe (if you’d prefer to be covered between the changing rooms and hot tubs), and a change of clothes for when we finish.

You may also want to bring suitable footwear for the meadow walk & something to read.

It's really important that you're suitably dressed to enjoy dinner outside and undercover - so warm layers, a hat and gloves are essential.

Facilities & location

I’ve been visiting Paus for a few years now and it truly is an incredible place. All we can see from the Bistro and hot tubs are fields of green - it's beyond serene! I honestly cannot wait to watch the sunset and be in a hot tub looking up at the night sky. The facilities are immaculate with Neal’s Yards products in each shower. The changing facilities also include hairdryers and lockers. And it's just an hour’s drive from MK - although if you don’t drive, let me know as there may be space with someone who has already booked. Checkout the PAUS website for more details on the location at www.paus.life.

Financial accessibility

I believe that yoga & restful practices should be accessible to all regardless of financial situation so I'm offering scaled pricing for this day retreat. The Supporter rate is for those who can afford to pay more (and therefore are able to support those in the lower priced options), then there's the Standard rate and a Community rate for those who need it. The Super Supporter rate pays for someone who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend. If you pay for this ticket, 1 free-of-charge ticket will then be made available on my website. If no one books using this, then you'll be refunded the cost of the ticket minus the normal support rate. Contact me if you'd like to explore a payment plan. Restful spaces must be accessible & equitable.
