About the event

Join Sally & Kelly for two hours of nourishing yoga & sound healing, ending with delicious tea/coffee & cake.

Over two hours we’ll take a deep and slow dive into the restful & healing practices of restorative yoga & soundbaths. We'll end by enjoying a warming hot drink & slice of cake - to help slowly bring us back to reality! Sally will be teaching restorative yoga poses while Kelly plays singing bowls, gongs & a crystal pyramid.

Restorative yoga helps restore the body to a place of healing & rest. It's sometimes referred to as the antidote to stress. We'll explore a handful of floor-based restorative poses that Sally has found to be deeply restful & grounding. We'll use props such as bolsters and cosy blankets to help us feel supported and move towards the parasympathetic nervous system (the place we go when we rest).

Sound baths are a meditative practice involving the use of resonant music. This creates an immersive sound that fills the room and the body, helping you focus on the present moment and clear your mind of distractions. It can help you achieve deeper states of relaxation, which can lead to better sleep, reduced stress level and improved moods. During the session, Kelly will play Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, crystal singing bowls and a crystal pyramid. There are periods of quiet. Thease are as important and as therapeutic as the music. We end with a percussion section, this is designed to bring you round and ground you. Emerging in your own time, from your deep rest, feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Who this event is for

This event is suitable for most people, including those with limited mobility, pregnant people in their 2nd or 3rd trimester & post-natal people. However soundbaths are not suitable for people with metals pins or plates (e.g. from broken bones). There are options for your body throughout and all experience levels are welcome. As with all of my classes, each element of the practice is optional and for you to pick which works best for you in the moment. If you're pregnant, please let me know in advance of booking (accessyogauk@gmail.com).

What you need

You'll need to bring your mat own to this workshop along with a cushion and a blanket. I'll be providing 1 bolster, 1 brick, 1 blanket & 1 eye pillow for each person. If you can bring extra blankets for yourself, you won't regret it! You may find it useful to bring a journal/notepad and pen - resting can spark some wonderful insight & ideas. You are welcome to wear absolutely anything you feel comfortable moving and lying down in.

Where this workshop takes place

This workshop will take place in the venue at the Craufurd Arms in Wolverton. Entrance to the venue is through the double doors adjacent to the car-park. There are limited spaces available to park in the car-park, you may need to park on one of the side streets. Please note that whilst the Craufurd Arms does have a ramp into the venue, there isn't currently an accessible toilet. This is something we're working on though.
